I Have A Finish

My flag quilt is finished, and it's not even July---I can't believe it.

It sure didn't take as long as I expected--I think I'm addicted to handwork.  I sure enjoyed it anyway.  Now what?  Maybe I will work on my apple core table runner; it needs to be quilted and bound.

I Call Myself NEEDLEBENDER For A Reason

I've decided to hand quilt this small project.
It's been a while since I've hand quilted, and it won't take long.  I've almost forgotten how.  I had to get a new thimble; I needed one that wouldn't fall off all the time, and it's working a little better than the other one.
I also got some new needles, but I went back to the longer, stronger needle, because I'm quilting in the ditch, and that means I quilt through many layers when I get the the corner seams.
I might give the size 10 needles a try with a different project.  The lady at the quilting store said she has used these size 10 needles on a queen size quilt and is still using the same needle that she started with.
I had the size 10 needle bent in about 15 minutes of quilting---hence the name NEEDLEBENDER.  If I weren't quilting in the ditch that might not happen.  I'll give it another try on something else.

The Red, White, And Blue

Another hand pieced apple core project completely pieced.  Now, I need to do some serious quilting.

Seventy apple cores leftover from my table runner project makes up this flag.  Hopefully, I will complete the quilting and binding before July--that would be nice :p
I am going to be lost without handwork, but I don't want to hand quilt it, because this is a dry run on what kind of machine quilting I want to do on my apple core runner.  Maybe, I can make some more Cicada bags by hand--Ha-ha!

Dinner And A Movie

My hubby kept asking about Valentines Day...What are we gonna do?
The only thing I could come up with was Dinner, and a Movie.
With lots of hearts all over the table.....
...and on the chairs....(I made the stuffed hearts and table cloths years ago)....
...roses he bought me...(sorry about the pic, cameras just don't do them justice)...
...a plain dinner of Roast, Fried sweet potatoes, Salad, Strawberries, and a Sunday for dessert...
He was a happy boy.  Any time I cook he likes it.
The movie wasn't real romantic, but it was good...and clean.

During the movie I worked on a hand stitched pink bug...
...that makes me happy.

Cicada Pouch

I've made another project off of pinterest.  It's called a Cicada Pouch--cute as a bug in a rug.

I think I'll store a sewing kit in there.  The little meds holder has pins, needles and two bobbins of thread....that with a pair of small scissors will take care of it.

And guess what...we're having snow today--Yea!

What's winter without snow?  I was afraid were weren't going to get any for a while.  It won't last long though, because tomorrow it's suppose to warm up somewhat.

Macaroon Anyone?

I finished my little Macaroon Coin Purse.
I didn't make it exactly as the directions told me to--I got the instructions off pinterest.  Instead of using the button back for the insides, I used circles of plastic inside the green metallic fabric for the insides of the box.  That gave it lots more room.  The little plastic disks inside the fabric circles have give to them--they bend.
You could store pills in it, coins, or rings.

You'll never believe it, but I have all four of these rings in there now.
I like the way it looks with my purse.  Cute little embellishment.

BRRRR!

Baby it COLD outside!
We've had a pretty mild winter so far, but the temps just took a dip, and tonight it's suppose to get down to 5 degrees---BRRRR  RR!

I'm starting a cute project here--it will be a small coin purse.
I will show some pics when it is finished.
It's nice to be feeling well again, and doing things--WA-HOO!  Nothing like being sick to make you appreciate feeling good.  I take so much for granted.

Winter Colds--Blech!

Our daughter made me some detergent.  She got the recipe off of pinterest.  I am waiting to use it until all my other box is used up.  I plan to clean up my Laundry room to make it all pretty.

On another note, it's been three and a half years since I've had a head cold---I have one now, and here's what my sick station looks like:
I am using a hot water bottle to keep the chills at bay, along with a quilt.  I have been running a low grade fever for three days.  I've gone through one large box of tissues, a lot of hot tea, water, and I'm keeping coconut oil on my lips and nose to keep them soft and not irritated.

My hubby made me breakfast this morning--Ain't he sweet?  Erin gave us a mold for cooking eggs, or pancakes.  How cute is that?!
So far I have not needed to take anything for my fever.  I believe a low grade fever helps kill the virus.  God designed our bodies to heal themselves, if we don't intervene too much.  In the meantime I feel pretty yucky.

I'm ready for winter to be over, but we still have about 6 weeks left.
