I'm still working on my apple cores, and I'm about to finish row 20. That means I'm 2/3 done piecing them. It will be so nice to finish this, and move on to something a little faster.
I'm improving in my hand piecing. My stitches are a little smaller, and I learned a new finishing knot. My eyeing the 1/4 inch seams is getting better, and I'm faster at it. If you want to learn how to do something well you need to just jump into a project that might be a little challenging. You just improve with practice. I learned how to enjoy using a thimble when I English Paper Pieced my hexagon quilt. I think when you do something well you enjoy it more.
At first it was drudgery working on this, and now I'm starting to enjoy it a little more. I like the stitching; it's the constant pinning that's not so enjoyble because it's so slow. I will still be glad to do a machine stitched project because it will be faster. Finishes are fun. Maybe patience is something I'm needing here.
Wow that looks like it would take forever to piece?
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks great! I love the variety of fabrics. I did an apple core piece to use for my daughter's Christmas stocking and decided that I love the look but that is about as big as I would want to make an apple core piece! It took forever. Great job, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI admire you for hand piecing... notice I am not saying I will emulate you and hand piece something myself!
ReplyDeleteLove your colors on the apple core quilt. Creams, blues and reds look amazing together. Don't stop doing your quilt. It will be worth ever second of hard work you've put into it.
ReplyDeleteWow - that is just beautiful. And I am quite proud of your patience - I have none LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!
It looks great. You are getting there :)
ReplyDeleteYour apple cores are so pretty. Very nice color combination.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with the hand piecing!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do an Apple Core - but I would machine piece - it's just cutting all those templates. Lovely job on your hand work.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct in what you say in every way. Your Apple Core project is pretty special made more so by the time and attention you give it. Patience is something you must have a lot of because of the time you've already invested. What are you thinking to tackle next? Sandi
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure just yet. I really like Blackbird Design's--Order Number Eleven quilt. I think that would be the right amount of handwork for me.
