MEMORY LANE

I was at my sister Alice's house the other day going through some pictures with her, and found these pics she had taken of my family a long time ago.........This is hubby in the drivers seat, and our middle daughter and I fixing a leash on our dog Brownie.  We were at my parents home, and it looks like we were getting ready to leave--(a one and a half hour trip).  I have my handy dandy baby quilt for Erin.  Sometimes we all five made the trip in this pick-up, but not very often.  It was pretty crowded.  Of course, Erin was always in my lap with Jen, and Celeste in the middle.  Squished!

Here's a pic of Erin and Jen down at the place near my parents home where we all went swimming if it was warm enough.  That stump was called the jumpin' tree by our kids and their many cousins. We had lots of fun times there.

These next pics are for future reference of how my yard looks at certain times of the year, so you can skip if you like.
Here's looking out our bedroom window.

My roses are all blooming---love the pink ones.

Chives.

Below are Sweet Rocket with Mock Orange, and Honeysuckle---you can not imagine how good our backyard smells now---we sleep with the window open with a small fan in the window, and wow!!

My Columbine are starting to bloom, although this pic doesn't show the bloom very well.

Look how big my hollyhocks are now.
I hope they bloom soon.

I will not show you a pic of how much weeding I need to do--I'm still waiting for my ankles to improve enough to get down to my knees and back up.

Spring Blooms

Warning!  Picture overload ahead......
Chives, Rose, and Clematis---I took these pics this afternoon.

Here are the same flowers.... pics I took this morning.
Clematis.
Sweet Rocket.

Pink Roses.

Alas, all is not perfect.  If my ankles will allow me I need to tidy up this bed.
Speaking of ankles, The Dr. is allowing me to exercise on the Elliptical machine now.  I did four and a half minutes this morning after doing twenty minutes on the bike---Yea!  Baby Steps for me.  I still can't go down stairs with ease.  I look pretty special when I'm doing it---one foot at a time, and sideways.
Look, my hollyhock will bloom before the nasty Japanese beetles invade.  Good thing some of last year's gardening work is paying off still---with bad ankles I'm pretty limited.

A collage of this morning pics.

Memory Board

A Memory Board just finished for my sister, Alice, and her husband, Dale.  It has two layers of batting hot glued to foam core board.  The fabric is folded to the back side, and hot glued back there, then the ribbon is also.  Lastly, I used an ice pick to poke holes underneath the ribbon intersections through the fabric, batting, and foam core board, then inserted 2" brass brads through the holes with the ribbon in between the two spokes--which then are folded open on the backside.

It has indentions where the brads are pulled through because I pushed down on the brads before opening the two spokes--which you can see here.
It's ready for pictures.

I've been up at the hospital a lot lately with my MIL.  She was sent home with hospice care yesterday--pretty sad.  She's 89 and having a real hard time right now.  I think she's ready to leave this world, but the dying process is pretty agonizing in her case, so we would appreciate your prayers.

A Wonderful Day.

More Lady Bugs finished-- these two were for my sisters, Alice, and Donna.  We had a sister lunch the other day, so I gave them each bug with a small sewing kit inside.

These two were for two of my daughters--Celeste and Erin.

Today, we had a nice meal here with our Missouri kids and Grand kids.  I put a roast on and discovered a little later that I didn't push start on my oven, so we had KFC chicken, Mashed potatoes, Gravy, Deviled Eggs, Veggie tray, Rolls, Baked Beans, and two nice desserts.  Guess what we're having for supper?   You guessed it--Roast.
Our SIL Jeff playing ball with two of their kids.

It was such a nice day.  We sat out in the back yard after lunch and munched on desserts.
Madison here, and Celeste.  Celeste and her girls have been sewing alot.  They wore some of the  clothes they made today.

Erin made some spectacular cupcakes and Celeste and her girls brought some wonderful pretzel candies.
Mac, Erin's dog decided to test little Sophie's cupcake.  Sophie told him he was a naughty dog.
It was such a nice day.

Eyeballs Added

Yummy, yummy, yummy, I've got love in my tummy---Ha-ha!   I just felt  song comin' on.
I've got five little lady bugs made.  We made a little trip to KC yesterday to help our daughter deliver her old car to our grand daughter.  It was still in real good shape and we are glad that worked out for them both. I worked on a couple of these little bugs on the trip.
Sophie, our two year old grand daughter saw my face book page with a picture of two of these without the button eyes, and made the comment that I pulled their eyesballs out.  I almost forgot to add the eyes.  Thank you Sophie!

Many times with a new pattern, I have fun dressing them up a bit.  I twisted my own cording, then added some beading to the ends of the joined pull cords.

Oh, look, they're having a little meeting.

Some good news about my ankles--I worked out today.  I just did the recumbent bike for 20 minutes, because that's all my doc would allow.  The most amazing thing happened after that---I can walk a little better.  My FIL had informed me I was walking like an old woman---(some information I could do without).  I'm so excited about the improvement!!!
